Catalyst Renewables’ mission is to own and operate a portfolio of projects that utilize clean and renewable fuels and state-of-the-art-technology to create an environmentally sound energy alternative.

Our focus is to acquire or develop projects in strategic areas where renewable resources are reliably available, the communities we serve are actively engaged, and the value of renewable energy can be sustained in both current and future energy markets.

Catalyst Renewables’ objective is to acquire and develop a portfolio of renewable power generation projects in the U.S., while pursuing our firm commitment to the highest standards of ethics and corporate citizenship when dealing with our clients and the communities we serve.
Our staff has expertise in power project development, operations and financing. We have the capability to develop and operate projects, and we are interested in working with management teams with specific expertise and opportunities to build companies within their niches. We are focused on developing and acquiring power generation facilities utilizing proven technologies.

Catalyst Renewables Corporation (formerly known as NGP Power Corp) formed on May 1, 2001, by Mr. Eric Spomer and Natural Gas Partners VI, L.P. and has offices in Dallas, Texas, and Syracuse, New York. Our company has substantial capabilities to access capital markets and execute transactions.

OUR PEOPLE:
Eric L. Spomer
President

Eric received his B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University in 1982 and 1992, respectively. After four years of working as an independent landman in the Rocky Mountain region right out of college, he joined NCNB in Charlotte, N.C., as a credit policy officer in 1986, serving in the real estate lending group. He moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1987 and then to Dallas in 1989 to work in the same capacity. After performing due diligence and transition tasks related to the acquisition of First Republic bank by NCNB, Eric joined the Energy Banking Group, where he handled large corporate credits until 1993. From 1993 to 1997, he was a co-founder and acted as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for a natural gas marketing, gathering and processing company, until taking a position as a principal in an energy merchant banking group, structuring transactions and assisting in bankruptcies and restructurings within the energy industry until leaving in 2001 to form Catalyst Renewables.

Carol A. Thimot
Chief Financial Officer

Carol joined Catalyst Renewables in March 2002, and has 15 years’ experience in the energy industry. She began her career in public accounting with Price Waterhouse in Dallas, Texas. Her experience includes planning, performing, and supervising both financial and EDP audits for Fortune 500 clients, including major oil and gas clients. She also worked as controller for a natural gas gathering, processing, and marketing company during the company’s transformation from a start-up phase, post-FERC Order 636 marketer to its achievement of $250 million in annual revenues as a diversified asset-based, service-oriented entity. While there she was also instrumental in restructuring the trading organization to ensure strict compliance with internal controls and improved business practices. Later, she managed the financial consulting unit of a leading management and technology services firm. Carol is a certified public accountant and earned a B.B.A. in accounting from Texas Tech University.

Colette A. Wiley
Director of Marketing

Colette brings 15 years of extensive experience in natural gas and power marketing to Catalyst Renewables. She began her career in 1989 with Arco Natural Gas Marketing. In 1995, she joined Texas-New Mexico Power Company, where she expanded and managed the company’s unregulated activities. In 1997, Colette moved to Panda Energy International as Manager, Power Marketing where she negotiated long-term and merchant power marketing agreements to support project financings. From 1999 to 2003, she served as Director, Marketing and Business Development for American Electric Power Corporation. Colette received her B.B.A. in finance from Texas Christian University.

Derek W. Benson
Managing Director/Business Development

Derek joined Catalyst Renewables in December 2003. He has over 11 years of energy and engineering experience covering a broad range of activities, including development of renewable power projects, environmental assessments and remediation, and engineering design. Derek previously served as Manager of Renewable Energy Development at Reliant Energy, where he was responsible for the development of six landfill gas-to-energy projects, evaluation of new renewable development opportunities, and evaluation of renewable energy markets. Prior to that, he worked for Royal Dutch/Shell in the Strategic Innovation Program, focusing on new business opportunities and sustainable development.

Derek also worked as a project manager for Conestoga, Rovers, and Associates, where his responsibilities included developing and implementing environmental remediation plans for large industrial and energy clients. He received a B.S. in civil engineering from Louisiana State University in 1995 and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001.

J. A. Morrison, P.E.
Director, Operations & Regulatory Affairs

Starting with Catalyst Renewables in 2005, Jim oversees and strives to optimize the company’s operating asset performance. A licensed professional engineer with a degree in chemical engineering from Ohio University, with graduate studies at MIT, RPI and Syracuse University, Jim has provided process-engineering expertise for the power, industrial and manufacturing sectors for over 30 years. Jim’s ongoing practices include environmental permitting/licensing, business development, system integration, process and technology development. Contributing to the installation over 5,000 mega-watts of generating capacity, spanning sizes from 500 kW to 750 MW and using various fuels as digester gas, biomass, culm, tire-derived fuel, non-recyclable paper, and traditional fossil fuels, Jim maintains a competitive interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency programs and is co-holder of three U.S. patents pertaining to alternative energy production devices and processes. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
