Lyonsdale Biomass:
Investing in a Project and Our Logging Partners

Catalyst Renewables is an owner and the operator of the Lyonsdale Biomass wood-fired, combined heat and power (CHP) facility in the township of Lyonsdale, Lewis County, New York. This 19-megawatt facility produces electricity for delivery to the New York Independent System Operator and several thousand pounds per hour average steam flow to Burrows Paper Corporation. As a CHP facility generating electricity and heat simultaneously, the project extracts more usable energy from the wood than creating heat or electricity alone, so it is more efficient.

When we acquired the facility, it needed significant capital investment to operate reliably and efficiently. More important, the logging community that supported the project for years was owed significant sums in unpaid deliveries. Catalyst Renewables stepped in and distributed nearly $500,000 to local loggers. We continue to make investments in the project to improve performance and reliability, and that’s true of our loggers as well.

Hudson Ranch I:
Making Geothermal Energy a Reality in the Imperial Valley

The Hudson Ranch I project is a 49.9 megawatt (MW) geothermal power generating facility under development within the Salton Sea Known Geothermal Resource Area in Imperial County, California. Hudson Ranch I is currently under construction. The project will utilize state of the art flash steam technology and will be operational in 2012.

EnergySource has additional geothermal power projects in development, utilizing similar or identical technology, at its Hudson Ranch site.
